Rooibos tea
At In the Mood for Tea you can shop handcrafted rooibos tea from selected small productions that are also grown completely without pesticides and artificial fertilisers. Our wild and organic rooibos from the Cedar Mountains in South Africa is harvested by hand from wild bushes, something that is unusual today when most of the rooibos sold is commercially grown. The cooperative we work with has both cultivated and wild rooibos, and we chose the wild one because it has a completely different depth and length of flavour. Like regular tea, rooibos tea has a substantial dose of antioxidants and is well known for its health benefits, but unlike tea, it has no caffeine whatsoever, making it ideal for evening tea or if you're pregnant and want to reduce your caffeine intake. You can also try Hojicha if you are looking for a good tea with small amounts of caffeine.

Organic rooibos tea, often referred to as red tea, is a caffeine-free alternative that offers a completely different experience compared to green tea, black tea and oolong. Unlike these, which contain caffeine in varying amounts, rooibos is naturally caffeine-free. This makes organic rooibos perfect for evenings or quiet moments when you want to enjoy tea without the stimulating effect of caffeine that, for example, green tea or matcha tea can provide. For those who usually opt for chai tea or black tea but want a decaffeinated alternative, rooibos offers a rich, full-bodied flavour profile with natural sweetness and earthy undertones.
Organic rooibos is also a great alternative to other decaffeinated teas such as white tea and yerba tea, although rooibos differs in both flavour and health benefits. The unique processing of rooibos gives it its characteristic red colour and distinctive flavour, while its high antioxidant content means that many consider it a healthy tea. Unlike South American mate or jasmine teas, rooibos is mild and suits those who prefer a rounder, smoother flavour.
For those looking to buy an organic decaffeinated tea, rooibos is a natural choice. The recommended brewing temperature is around 95°C, which brings out the rich flavours. As one of the world's most popular teas, rooibos provides an excellent cup of tea for those seeking the best in decaffeinated and organic tea.
