Indian tea

India is the world's largest producer of black teas. Indian tea has its origins in a tradition of strong black teas that can also be drunk with milk and sometimes mixed with Indian spices. In the regions of Assam and the Nilgiri Mountains further south, we have contact with skilled tea makers on farms who create teas with a more classic black character, but with unique nuances. At the same time, among Indian teas we find something reminiscent of the opposite – the unique teas that have long been famous for their subtle, elegant nuances – the Darjeeling teas. Darjeeling tea, grown on the high slopes of the Darjeeling region in northwestern India, is known for its elegant and subtle flavor profile. Often referred to as the “champagne of teas”, Darjeeling tea offers a light, golden color and a flavor that can be reminiscent of muscatel wine. The flavor is floral and fruity, which makes the tea especially appreciated by those who prefer a more delicate drink. Each season gives Darjeeling tea a unique character, from the fresh first flush to the fuller and blacker summer and autumn harvests.
