Keemun is one of China's and the world's most highly regarded black teas, prized for its elegant flavour profile and deep history. This organic black tea comes from the province of Anhui, an area with a long and well-preserved tradition of tea cultivation, especially for green tea. Keemun Gong Fu is grown in Qimen, the place where Keemun tea was originally created, and it is made in the classic way, with a carefully selected picking of a bud and one to two leaves. The leaves are dark chocolate brown and have a fine lustre, reflecting the care and expertise put into the tea-making process.
As the leaves are brewed, Keemun develops an aromatic and sophisticated infusion characterised by notes of dark chocolate, noble wood and a subtle floral quality. This flavour profile, both complex and harmonious, is the result of a careful manufacturing process, where the natural flavours of the leaves are brought out through slow oxidation. The unique combination of chocolate notes and a subtle floral aroma means that Keemun is often considered a tea with both a deep and refined flavour.
